Fair Workplace Advocate
Diagnosed with Tourette’s Syndrome at the age of nine, Ann Khoo studied Bachelor of Commerce at the University of Melbourne, Australia majoring in international business strategy. She completed her Master’s degree in International Business at Monash University, Australia with honours.
Despite performing well in her job, Ann faced discrimination at her previous workplace and was dismissed from her job on the grounds of her condition then. She then pursued freelance writing when she took a career break while recovering from a detached eye retinal surgery.
Post-recovery, she worked at an e commerce website for two years before she was headhunted by regional SEA e-commerce retailer Lazada.com.my, where she works at now, as a senior campaign manager.
Ann leads a well-rounded life, despite facing many adversities and maintains a positive outlook in life and wishes to educate the Malaysian public about Tourette’s Syndrome as well as inspire people with disabilities to persevere despite facing discrimination in the workplace. She hopes that sharing her inspirational experience with everyone will be the first step she takes in changing the world to be a fair and accommodating place for everyone.
