One of Malaysia’s most renowned violinists, Dennis Lau is one of the youngest Malaysian musicians to achieve Grade 8 accreditation from the Royal Schools of Music.
Dennis has performed as a soloist with University Malaya’s Symphony Orchestra in the presence and honour of (the late) Sultan Azlan Shah. The members of the Malaysian royalty are no stranger to the music of Dennis as he has performed twice in the presence of the King and even dedicated a melody for His Majesty’s mother on her birthday in 2008.
His other extraordinary moments included performaing at the Islamic Fashion Festival, which had, among the audience, fashion designer Stella McCartney, the Princess of Monaco and other dignitaries. Dennis has held the first violin position for the Malaysian Philharmonic Youth Orchestra (MPYO) and is now a regular orchestra secessionist with the RTM and National Symphony Orchestra. Dennis was nominated in the CIMB Prestige magazine’s ‘Top 40 Under 40’ in the year 2009 and appeared on Star World’s ‘Asia Uncut’ programme hosted by Jon Niermann in Shanghai. He has also opened for Adam Lambert’s concert in Kuala Lumpur and was acknowledged for his work with the 2013 Mcmillan Woods Award for the ‘Most Promising Performing Artiste’.
