TiC – Digital Musicians
TiC (formerly known as The Infernal’s Conundrum) comprises Angelo Manuel and Brendan Teh. Formed in 2009, the duo from PJ fuses elements of digital and analogue instruments to create their music, and has previously collaborated with numerous artistes from diverse musical backgrounds.
Heavily inspired by soundscapes, industrial elements, electronica, and ambient music, TiC aims to captivate the imagination – through the use of outrageous sounds, outlandish themes, and unconventional methods of playing instruments.
By day, Angelo is a writer in the magazine publishing line. After hours, he spends most of his time composing tracks on the computer or guitar. Seldom adhering to a single genre, most of his work features a dark theme, and a fusion of various elements. His influences include: Sascha Konietzko, Trent Reznor, and Jesper Kyd. In TiC he programs tracks, and adds a little ‘sugar and spice’ to them through his guitar and equipment.
Brendan, who works as a production engineer, has to handle strange sounds and voice overs on a daily basis. While being known as guitarist for the Free Deserters, he serves as TiC’s ‘effects wrangler’, seldom touching the guitar, and focusing on the instrument which is an extensive collection of electronic gizmos and effects. His influences include: Toshimaru Nakamura, M. Sachiko and Sonic Youth.
