Yvonne Foong

Yvonne Foong is a 23-year-old student pursuing a bachelor of science degree in Psychology via independent study with Upper Iowa University. At the age of 18, Yvonne wrote her first book entitled “I’m not sick, just a bit unwell – Life with Neurofibromatosis” with the aim of raising awareness about her genetic disorder called Neurofibromatosis (NF) and providing other patients with support. The book has recently been translated into Chinese, and she plans to write a sequel to her first book soon. At age 19, Yvonne started a campaign named Heart4Hope to raise funds for her medical treatments at House Ear Institute in Los Angeles. Yvonne hopes that other NF patients in Malaysia will get to experience the care of her surgeons at HEI.

Yvonne has since received the “Most Outstanding Youth of The Year 2005” award by Asian Youth Ambasaddors, followed by the “Young Achiever of the Year 2008” award by Her World Women, and the “Outdo Yourself Award 2010” by F & N.
